Amazing Grace Crop Maze is excited to “Welcome Back” Tim McGraw and Faith Hill to the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena on their Soul2Soul Tour with a tribute in the farm’s five acre crop maze. Plans for the maze design are made months in advance, long before the First Coast was so severely impacted by #HurricaneIrma. Tim and Faith haven’t made a tour stop in Jacksonville in many years and they are coming back to a place that has survived a natural disaster this week. Who would have thought that these days of hardship across the entire state of Florida would give a whole new meaning to the simple phrase “welcome back”?
Most importantly, we wanted share a few things about the community that Tim and Faith are welcomed back to this week. It’s a place where people have risked their lives to save their neighbor. It’s a place where first responders and lineman left their own families to keep our families safe and secure. It’s a place where current and former students show up in their teacher’s yard to help clean out their home that was entirely flooded. It’s a community where nurses and health care workers left their homes and didn’t return for days because they wouldn’t leave their patients in flooded hospitals. It’s a place where churches cancelled services to go serve. Tim and Faith, welcome back to a place where complete strangers are buying bottled water to keep in their vehicle to pass out to folks working hard to help those suffering in our community.
It’s a place where people have called, texted, Facebooked, cried, hugged, laughed, and smiled with their family and friends who are suffering because at that moment they just didn’t know what else to do. It’s a place where people have been on their knees praying. It’s a place where friends and neighbors have washed each other’s laundry, opened up their homes, and cooked extra meals for those who aren’t in the position to do it themselves. “Welcome Back” to a place where brave parents put their children in boats and walked them through neck deep water to get them to safety when flood waters rose higher than anyone can comprehend. It’s a place where news anchors, reporters, and meteorologist went without sleep and left their own families to keep ours informed so we could be safe.
Tim and Faith, “Welcome Back” to our heart-filled First Coast community where people have shown courage, strength, support, kindness, love and resilience over the last several days. “Welcome Back” to our neighborhoods filled with people who stood together so effortlessly in a substantial time of need. A place where we love to sing “Where the Green Grass Grows” and “You Can’t Lose Me”. “Welcome Back” to this amazing place that we call our unbreakable HOME.
